Hire. Fly. Decide.
At Wing Locker, we know that the only thing standing between most pilots and their dream setup is a single, daunting price tag. New gear shouldn’t be a luxury for the few. It’s a safety and progression essential for the many.
1. The Hire Phase
Don't get grounded. Rent a brand-new wing for a fixed 90-day term.
Cost: £1,000 fixed hire fee.
Pay Your Way: Secure your rental instantly. We accept credit/debit cards and PayPal (where you may choose to use Pay in 3, subject to PayPal's status and terms).
The Benefit: This removes the pressure to sell your current wing in a hurry. You have 3 months to find the right buyer for your old kit while enjoying the performance of the new one.
2. The Transition
Love the wing? Keep it. If you fall in love with the wing during your 90 days, you don't have to let it go. You can choose to purchase the specific unit you have been flying.
Ex-Hire Advantage: Because the wing is now "used," you can purchase it at our discounted ex-hire price, ensuring that the total cost to you is no more than if you just purchased the wing new.
The Result: You get the wing you know and trust, having had time to ensure it's the right decision, at no extra cost.
Payment Options: You can choose to pay your ex-hire wing outright or spread it over a new 12-month interest-free installment plan.

Rental FAQ's
How does the price work if I decide to buy the wing?
If you choose to keep the wing, you are purchasing an "Ex-Hire" unit. We apply a significant discount to the price to reflect its usage, which usually balances out your hire cost. You simply pay this lower ex-hire price.
How does the 12-month finance work?
If you decide to purchase the wing, we can set up a new instalment plan for the ex-hire wing. This is a separate agreement handled directly by Wing Locker Ltd. It is interest-free (0% APR) and fixed for 12 months. Click here to read more.
Can I use PayPal for the full purchase?
PayPal Pay in 3 is great for the initial hire fee. However, the larger balance for purchasing the wing is usually handled via our in-house 12-month plan or a standard card payment.
Do I have to pay a massive security deposit upfront?
No, we do not freeze your funds. Instead of taking a large cash deposit, we use a secure system (Stripe Setup Intent) to validate and vault your payment card. No funds are taken at the time of authorisation. You simply grant us the authority to charge your card up to the Retail Replacement Price (RRP) only if the equipment is damaged, lost, or subjected to excessive devaluation during your hire.
What qualifications and insurance do I need to hire a wing?
Safety is our top priority. To hire our equipment, you must warrant that you hold a BHPA Club Pilot rating (or equivalent) and possess the necessary competence to fly safely. You are also strictly required to hold adequate third-party aviation liability insurance for the entire duration of the hire period, which is typically covered by an active BHPA membership. We will run due diligence checks on your identity and pilot competency before dispatching your order.
Are there any restrictions on how I can fly the hired wing?
Yes, to keep the equipment in top condition for everyone, we have a few common-sense rules:
Flight Time: You must not fly the equipment for more than 30 hours in total during your hire period.
Launch & Landing: You must only launch and land on forgiving surfaces, such as grass. Do not drag the wing over abrasive surfaces.
Prohibited Activities: The equipment must absolutely not be used for SIV courses, acro-flying, or intentional water landings.
Care: The wing must never be packed away wet.
Can I buy the same wing that I'm hiring?
Yes. You are sent a brand-new wing to start your hire. If you choose to purchase it, you keep that exact unit. You know its entire history because you are the only pilot who has flown it.
What happens if I don’t want to buy it?
No problem. At the end of the 90 days, you simply ship the wing back to us using the provided label. There is no obligation to buy.
What happens if I damage the wing during the hire?
What happens if I damage the wing during the hire?
We understand that accidents can happen. If the equipment is damaged, here is exactly how we handle it fairly and transparently:
Step 1: Ground the Wing and Notify Us. For your safety, you must immediately stop flying the equipment if you suspect any damage or degradation, and let us know straight away.
Step 2: Independent Inspection. Once your hire ends, we send the wing to an independent, BHPA-approved service centre (such as The Loft Workshop) for a professional condition report. This independent report acts as the binding evidence of the equipment's condition.
Step 3: Calculating Costs. If the report shows physical damage, excessive soiling, or a drop below a "Very Good" rating, you will be liable for the exact cost of the repairs. If the damage causes a permanent loss in the wing's market value, a Devaluation Charge will also be added based strictly on the technical report. In the rare event of irreparable damage or total loss, you are liable for the full Retail Replacement Price (RRP).
Step 4: Payment Processing. We will never charge you more than our actual loss or the exact cost of remediation. Before any charge is made, we will email you written notice along with the Service Centre Report at least 24 hours in advance. The cost is then charged to the payment card you securely vaulted for your Security Deposi

Can I sell my old wing while I'm renting?
Absolutely. This is designed to keep you in the air while you wait for the right buyer for your old kit, ensuring you don't have to "fire sale" your gear just to fund the upgrade.
When is my card authorisation (Security Deposit) released?
When your hire ends, you return the wing to us. We will then send it to an independent service centre (like The Loft Workshop) within 14 days for a professional inspection. Your card authorisation will be fully released as soon as reasonably practicable after the inspection confirms there is no damage or devaluation beyond fair wear and tear, and in any event no later than 7 days after that inspection is completed.
The SMALL Print
Duration: Terms are strictly fixed at 90 days.
Ownership: The equipment remains the sole property of Wing Locker Ltd throughout the hire period.
No Obligation: This is a pure hire agreement. You are under no obligation to purchase the equipment—you simply decide what works for you at the end of the term.
Security: Prior to dispatch, we complete standard pilot identity checks and securely vault your payment card. There is no upfront security deposit and no funds are frozen on your account.
The "Security Deposit" Explained
When you rent high-value gear, we securely validate your payment card rather than taking a large upfront cash deposit.
Is the money taken or blocked? No. We use a secure system (Stripe) to verify and save your card details. Absolutely no funds are taken or held at the time of your order.
Are my funds "fenced" like a car hire? No! Unlike a hotel or car rental company that freezes your money, you keep full access to your entire bank balance. You are simply granting us the authority to charge the card only in the event that the equipment is damaged, lost, or returned late (up to its retail replacement value).
When is the authorisation cancelled? Once your hire ends, the wing is sent for an independent inspection. As soon as it is confirmed to be free of damage beyond fair wear and tear, your card authorisation is fully released and cancelled
